About us

The Eastbourne Triathlon is  an award-winning triathlon, consisting of a 600m sea swim, 17.5km bike course and 5km run. In addition to the triathlon, running concurrently will be two separate events, an Aquabike event (600m swim / 20km bike) and an exciting elite race featuring an international field of world class triathletes drawn to the course and who are looking forward to racing with you!

The 1st edition of the Eastbourne Triathlon was held in 2016 and welcomed over 200 competitors. Many were competing for the first time. Our first champions were Ben Allen from Australia and Jacqui Slack from the UK, who are both world-class elite triathletes.

The first event was a tremendous success and we are proud to say that the event was awarded top marks by Triathlon England and named the ‘Best UK Triathlon’ by Racecheck. We have also been shortlisted by the 220 Triathlon Show Awards, the ‘Oscars of the triathlon industry’, for Best Event of 2016, with (we hope) many more to come following the second successful edition in 2017.

As a town already blessed with notable sports events such as the the Aegon International tennis festival, the Beachy Head Marathon, the Eastbourne Half Marathon, the Eastbourne Cycling Festival and Eastbourne Extreme, a professionally organised and exciting triathlon can only add to the list of attractions bringing visitors to the town. The Western Lawns lend themselves to the Transition Zone, the bike course will be challenging and memorable, whilst the run will also challenging, but rewarding finals stretch on the promenade offering a glorious finish area on Western Lawns. This event will ensure Eastbourne gets the Triathlon event it deserves.

    Hi,

I am looking to do an aquabike in Eastbourne next year.I assume it Is OK to use my mountain bike which is is quite new and in good condition? Also l am not a serious competitor , as l am doing the Aquabike as a personal challenge. Will there be many amateur athletes doing the Aquabike like myself who are not really to interested in getting a fast time, but just trying to complete the course.

I have a bike helmet, will l need to buy a wetsuit or can l hire one on the day? Is there anything else l will need before l take part? Finally , can spectators watch for free and take photos?

    Regards
    Justin

      Hi Justin,

It is absolutely fine to use a mountain bike (I did on my first triathlon!). There are lots of first timers at Eastbourne.

You can hire wetsuits from our lovely friends at Zone3 and yes, as many spectators as can fit in Eastbourne are welcome to come and take photos. We have 3 professional photographers as well taking pictures which are uploaded to Facebook.

      Thanks,
      Rich
